THE 2008 CHUMP CHANGE CHALLENGE:
Save the Children
Last summer, Not on Our Watch, a new organization headed by George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt, Don Cheadle, Jerry Weintraub and David Pressman, announced a $1 million donation to Save the Children to assist more than 70,000 displaced women and children living in temporary camps in West Darfur, Sudan and in eastern Chad.
Approximately 2.5 million, a third of Darfur's population, have been driven from their homes. Displaced children and families have insufficient access to food, shelter, clean water and clothing.
Save the Children’s programs in Sudan address hunger relief, emergency health care, water and sanitation programs, protection, and shelter. Our programs assist displaced persons, returnees, and war-affected and other vulnerable groups – mainly children and women – through basic services that result in food security, self-sufficiency and independency from AIDS.
Your donation will help us support and protect children and families who are suffering from this humanitarian crisis.
Child Poverty in America
One in six children lives in poverty in America. They don't need to. Save the Children works in impoverished rural communities in Appalachia, the Southeast, the Mississippi River Delta, the Gulf Coast, the Southwest and California’s Central Valley – where conditions resemble parts of the developing world.
Save the Children’s U.S. activities serve these children by focusing on early childhood development; literacy, physical activity and nutrition programs; and emergency response.
Your support can help us reach children in need in remote rural regions across the country.
Are these good enough reasons to click that darn quarter?
