A Death Sentence for Afghan Student That Stands Up for Womens' Rights

planetearthislamicstudentsentencedtodeath.jpgWorldwide outrage over Afghan sentenced to death for reading article on women's rights.

How's that for a big, fat thank you!
Sounds more like a big, fat F**k You to me.

Everyone like to see results from hard work.  It helps you find the energy and the drive to continue.  Positive results  can fuel your ambitions to keep going and fight for what you know is worth fighting for.

Soooo, I'm sure all the brave men and women who put their lives on the line to help dig Afghanistan out from under the oppressive thumb of the Taliban and who strive everyday to create a stable government must be thrillllled to hear how all their hard work is panning out.

The Independent reports that: "A young man, a student of journalism, is sentenced to death by an Islamic court for downloading a report from the internet. The sentence is then upheld by the country's rulers. This is Afghanistan – not in Taliban times but six years after "liberation" and under the democratic rule of the West's ally Hamid Karzai.

Sayed Pervez Kambaksh was accused of blasphemy after he downloaded a report from a Farsi website which stated that Muslim fundamentalists who claimed the Koran justified the oppression of women had misrepresented the views of the prophet Mohamed.

Mr Kambaksh, 23, distributed the tract to fellow students and teachers at Balkh University with the aim, he said, of provoking a debate on the matter. But a complaint was made against him and he was arrested, tried by religious judges without – say his friends and family – being allowed legal representation and sentenced to death."

Afghanistan's President, Hamid Karzai

Nice to know that Afghanistan's President, Hamid Karzai is taking his role in changing the course of history seriously, NOT.

I think Afghanistan should consider replacing him with Borat. (Yeah, yeah, Kazakhstan, Afganistan, whatever. You get the joke.)

Like I've said before, people suck.  Why go to such efforts to hate and hurt women?  What are you afraid of?  Why kill an innocent student who speaks against your bullshiite or maybe is it bullsunni, I can never keep it straight (or is that a whole different country, whatever).

How you can save Pervez

Sayed Pervez Kambaksh's actions were exactly the sign of progress that one hopes to see in an evolving society.  God forbid (Ooo.  Yes, I did.  I said God and no one (whether they disagree with me or not) will hang, stone or execute me.

The Independent hopes that if enough international pressure is brought to bear on President Karzai's government, his sentence may yet be overturned. Add your weight to the campaign by urging the Foreign Office to demand that his life be spared. Sign their e-petition at www.independent.co.uk/petition
