American Horse Protection

All right now, ya see.  If we band together and demand action from legislators, some of them actually hear you.  Some may even agree with you. Here's one of the letters I received after sending and signing the petition.

animalshorses.JPG"Thank you for contacting me in support of H.R. 503, the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. I appreciate hearing from you and welcome the opportunity to respond.

You will be pleased to know that we are in complete agreement on this issue, and I have signed on as an original cosponsor of H.R. 503 this year in the 110th Congress.

I was also an original cosponsor in the 109th Congress, and I proudly voted yes when the bill came to the House floor for a vote. Unfortunately, it did not come up for a vote in the Senate before the end of the congressional session last year, so it was not signed into law.

As you know, this legislation would prohibit the sale or transportation of horses to be slaughtered for human consumption. In America, horses are sporting animals and companions, not food. Throughout my time in Congress I have supported the protection of our nation's wildlife, and I will continue to be an outspoken advocate for animal welfare and protection.

Thank you again for taking time to share your views with me. Please contact me if I can be of further assistance."

Sincerely,

CAROLYN B. MALONEY

Member of Congress
