Johnny Depp
Born on June 9, 1963 in Kentucky and raised in Florida. A year after his parents divorced when he was 16, he dropped out of school hoping to make it in the world as a musician. He got introduced to acting by actor Nicolas Cage. He made his fim debut in A Nightmare on Elm Street in 1984 and in 1987 he played an undercover cop in 21 Jump Street. Not wanting to typecast himself, he chose many varied and diverse roles such as Edward Scissorhands, Denny & Joon, Charlie Chaplin etc. In 2003, Depp became the flamboyant Captain Jack Sparrow. He admitted that he used a drunken, debauched rock star (Keith Richards) as inspiration. This made him the biggest hit and earned him his first Oscar nomination.
Orlando Bloom
Born January 13, 1977 in Kent, England. At 16, Bloom relocated to London and performed with the National Youth Theatre for two seasons before winning a scholarship to train with the British American Drama Academy. Orlando was in awe of larger-than-life characters--from Superman to the members of the A-Team--and knew the only way to become one was to play one on screen. Well soon after recovering from a serious back injury, Bloom auditioned for Lord of the Rings and landed the role of Legolas, Tolkien's warrior elf, who has super-human strength, swift reflexes, and heightened sensory awareness. As Legolas, Bloom is immortal, and at 2,931 years old, is a tall, athletic, and skilled fighter of evil -- he truly is larger than life.
Keira Knightley
Born March 26, 1985 in Teddington, England. Knightley suffers from dyslexia, but nevertheless achieved good grades in school to please her parents, and was thus permitted to have an agent and pursue an acting career. She began her acting career at the age of seven, appearing in made for T.V. films before being cast as Sabe, Padme Amidala's decoy, in the 1999 blockbuster, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Knightley was cast in the role due to her close resemblance to Natalie Portman, who played Padmé; the two actresses' mothers had difficulty telling their daughters apart when they were heavily made up. Her breakthrough role was in the English film, Bend It Like Beckham, which was a major success in March 2003. She was then cast in the Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, becoming one of the biggest hits of summer 2003 and cementing Knightley as the new "It" girl.
