Independent Entertainment News Reports that Paramount will release the next Star Trek Feature Christmas 2008
One of the most popular film and television franchises of all time, "Star Trek" has had episodes for television in six different series, beginning with the original 1966-1969 series created by Gene Roddenberry and the 10 "Star Trek" films which have grossed in excess of $1 billion worldwide. The original characters have been named among the 50 greatest TV characters of all time and the Enterprise has lent its' name to two proposed spacecrafts. "If there's something I'm dying to see, it's the brilliance and optimism of Roddenberry's world brought back to the big screen," said Abrams, one of the creative forces involved with the movie. The goal is to make a picture for everyone -- life-long fans and the uninitiated. Star Trek XI will be focused on the first meeting of James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock at Starfleet Academy and their first mission in space.
The new Star Trek movie will have a "how it all began" theme and guess who's playing young Mr. Spock? Zachary Quinto, known as Sylar, the hair-raisingly super-powered serial killer of "Heroes"!
I think it's a great choice and I'm sure he'll do the role justice but... for now he really gives me the heeby geebies as Sylar.
I, for one, cannot wait. Yep, I am a trek-a-holic. Live, long and prosper.
