TV Review: Bravo's Work Out

tvreviewWorkOut.JPGSeason 3 seems to be set up to be the most intense (and steamy) season so far of Bravo's docu-series "Work Out". The series delves into the personal relationships and business endeavors of Jackie Warner, a lifelong athlete and owner of the exclusive Beverly Hills gym Sky Sport & Spa.

Last season featured Jackie's breakup with her selfish, emotionally draining, girlfriend, Mimi, her struggle to come to terms with her father's suicide, her efforts to get closer to a conservative mother, and the unexpected death of one of her beloved trainers, Doug Blasdell.

She also started a relationship with Rebecca, one of her trainers (office romance - never a good idea).  I don't think Rebecca's gay but she is an attention whore so maybe that's her motivation.  But then again Jackie's so hot that I'd do her and I'm not gay either.
(Just kidding. About the 'doing her' part not the 'not gay' part.)

This season brings back most of last season's cast of characters.  The trainers are varied bunch from Rebecca to new hire, Greg Plitt, Westpoint graduate/US Army Ranger/male model and Jackie's new live-in love, Brianna.  One thing they all have in common - slammin' bodies!

In reality, (real reality, not just reality TV reality), Jackie is one entrepreneurial demon.  A self made millionaire by age 22!  Sky Sport - her sports medicine and fitness club in Beverly Hills, guest appearances, development of her clothing line and her new Skylab venture, a high-end spa/fitness experience for overweight clients who want to change their minds, bodies and overall health.

Two tips from Jackie:

1. Sugar is the devil
Sugar throws our body into an immune suppressed, non-working state of chronic fatigue, depression, and hormonal imbalance. It is the leading cause of disease and depression in this country. To break the sugar addiction, get rid of refined sugar (anything that isn’t fruit or veggies) for 5 days in a row, then allow yourself to have one cheat meal on Saturday and one on Sunday. You will have curbed the chemical addiction for sugar and your brain will desire less.

2. Ab Crunches are a waste of time
If you carry weight in your midsection, you will just build muscle under fat – thus making you appear bigger! The only way to get a true 6-pack is to combine a healthy diet with resistance training.

This show has something for everyone - men, women, drama, great scenery but it's also very educational.  Within all the drama, there is profound knowledge on physical as well as mental health.  Everyone can use a little help in how to balance life's stresses like relationships, career ambition and a healthy body & mind.

WorkOut airs on Tuesday Nights on Bravo.
